Looking for knee rejuvenation? Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) is a remarkable treatment for bad knees. Your knees can take a beating, Sports injuries, wear and tear, and age all can take their toll on the joints and tendons of the knee. Unfortunately, these tissues have only limited ability to heal on their own.
Conventional treatments are usually steroid shots, Hyaluronic Acid (Gel) shots, and ultimately ending with a knee replacement. Steroids have been found to destroy the cartilage and the ‘life’ of joints. So having the pain come back is usually inevitable, especially for osteoarthritis (OA).
We specialize in regenerative treatments such as PRP that provide a better quality of life for patients with knee pain or injury without drugs or surgery. We like to mix it with HA (gel) to give a fast relief of pain, while the PRP does its magic.
Platelet-rich plasma uses the growth and healing factors in your own blood to stimulate healing, return range of motion, and reduce the root cause of your knee pain.
Almost any patient who is suffering from knee pain can benefit from PRP. Platelet-rich plasma uses the platelets and growth factors in your blood to initiate connective tissue healing and repair. Knee issues that respond well to PRP treatments include:
Platelet-rich plasma for knee pain works by using the healing factors in your own blood to reduce inflammation and stimulate tissue repair in the areas it is injected.
Our goal is to provide our patients customized care and individualized treatment strategies based on their overall health. Our regenerative treatments have the potential to improve the quality of life for our patients suffering with knee pain, and OA.
This procedure is a same-day outpatient procedures which takes place at our office.
We draw a blood sample, we centrifuge it using our FDA-cleared centrifuge system, and we extract PRP. It is then injected in the affected joint by our board-certified physician. The whole process takes less than an hour. Results start to show in a few weeks. (As it takes time for tissues to grow), but adding HA (gel) to the PRP adds a cushion to your knee to relief pain temporarily, while the PRP regenerates new tissues.
Of course, as in any medical procedure, the results from PRP for knee pain will vary from patient to patient. Your program of PRP injections will be tailored to your individual symptoms and lifestyle.
