Facial Flushing and Visible Facial Vessels
Rosacea is an inflammatory condition mainly affecting the face. It comes and goes, often lasting for several hours. Some people will periodically develop multiple spots in the affected areas which often become pustular and resemble acne but gets worse with acne treatment.
Rosacea is very common, affecting up to 10% of the population. Usually comes in the 20s or in the 50s, but people of any age may develop the condition.
Symptoms of Rosacea:
- A tendency to flush (blush) easily
- Increased vascularity (telangiectasis) of the face
- Acne-like skin eruptions
- A burning or stinging sensation of the face
What Causes It?
Although thought to be genetic, it remains unknown why people develop rosacea
What Triggers It?
- Temperature Changes / Sun exposure
- Dairy / Alcohol / Caffeine / Spicy foods
Rosacea Progression and Treatments
After a period of intermittent flushing, the skin becomes persistently red with the development of multiple telangiectasia (visible vessels) over the affected area. If remains untreated, it starts to give a sensation of burning. Rosacea also affects confidence, as it causes embarrassment to many people.
At Better Life Clinics, we use Sciton’s BBL (Broad Band Light). The most innovative device using a form of intense pulsations of light at specific frequencies, targeting the inner lining of the capillaries and vessels, causing them to have a thermal injury. This makes the capillary walls stick to each other, giving a long-term resolution of the redness and visible vessels.
